🌏 Asia Overnight

Risk-on mood after Wall Street's record close. Nikkei 225 +2.7%, Kospi +4.5%, both led by chip and AI names. Sentiment lifted by hopes of a US–Iran–Oman deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

🛢️🥇 Oil & Gold

Crude is holding Tuesday's sharp ~5% Hormuz-driven drop, WTI near $75, Brent near $79. Gold steadies just above $4,100/oz as markets trim September Fed hike odds to ~57% (from 67%).

💱 FX

USD/JPY capped as yen draws support from a 6th straight month of rising Japanese real wages and hawkish BoJ minutes (7–1 vote for the June hike). NZD slipped after NZ unemployment hit an 11-year high of 5.6%.

🇨🇳 China

China's Services PMI slumped to 50.4 in July (exp. 53.7) – weakest since Sep 2024, flagging cooling domestic demand.
